Tips for Writing a Business Plan

A good business plan is essential to starting your own business. It helps make things more organized and it is great for showing future customers, investors, and employees that you are serious about your business.

When writing your business plan you must remember to be flexible. Don’t have your mind set on running your business a certain way. While writing your plan you may discover a better way to do it, or even a better idea for a business. As you put your ideas down on paper let it grow and change in a way that will be positive for your business.

Be sure to include all aspects of business in your plan including but not limited to:

1. Mission Statement -This is one or two sentences telling the purpose of your business. It doesn’t matter what type of business you have, even if you are only selling anti aging skin care products, you
still need a mission statement so you and your employees and customers know what you are working for.

2. Budget - Money is one of the most important aspects in a business. A good budget will keep you on track, as long as you stick to it! Be sure to overestimate your costs and expenses and underestimate your profits.

3. Advertising - Where will you advertise? How much will it cost? How often do you need to advertise?

4.Internet -The world is online these days and your business should be too. How will you show yourself on the internet? Having a website isn’t enough. Does it have clear conversion goals. Do you have a good seo onboard to ensure that your website gets visitors if it is going to be your main income of new customers?

5. Support Services - How will you get help? Make a list of of people and places you can go to for help with your business

6.Operational plan - List all the details of how you plan on running your business. List long term and short term goals and how you plan on reaching these goals.

7. Weaknesses - Look at not only your strengths, but also your weaknesses. Once you know where you are weak, you can work at fixing it. Don’t overlook the weaknesses, make them stronger.

Starting your own business has its rewards as well as its challenges; this is where a solid business plan will make all the difference.
